so president barack obama and first lady michelle obama attended their first ball this evening, the neighborhood ball.at 8:33pm, introduced by denzel washington and serenaded by beyonce singing etta james' "at last," the obama's kicked off a long night of inaugural balls.
and what has been the biggest question leading up to today's transition (i mean, beyond what type of dog the obamas will get)? what will michelle obama wear to the balls?
well, i'm, umm.... underwhelmed.
i dunno.... the dress isn't great. first off...it's white. i mean... i promised "IN COLOR!" and now.... it's kinda boring. and there are tiny things on it.. and just one shoulder... that shoulder strap almost wants to be a bjork swan song.

ah shit, all i'm commenting on is unfeminist-like issues of hat and dresses. i'm such a lesbo-fag-design-whore.
anyway. the first pics made the dress look like it was a light yellow, which I liked a whole lot more than the actual white color. i appreciate the way the light color sets off her skin and i love that she's showing off her gorgeous shoulders (sistermaryfrancis that woman has such...bearing) but i'm also not overwhelmed by the overall design. the outfit she wore at the inauguration was better (green gloves and pumps were fabulous).
well, it is michelle's beauty and grace that help carry this dress from the disaster it could be on, say, laura bush. it's not horrible, i just wanted more.
oh, and i loved her day outfit much more. and the color was "lemon grass." who knew? (well, the designer knew. the today show had them both on this morning.)
